Product story
Purple passion fruit from Dong Thap pressed within 24 hours of harvest, flash-pasteurised and cold-filled at our Binh Duong plant, with no added sugar and no added water.
Pure passion fruit juice was among the first products from our Binh Duong beverage plant when it opened in 2017, marking Thalvora Foods' move into drinks. It is now stocked across modern retail nationwide and exported to Singapore and Malaysia.
The passion fruit growing area
Purple passion fruit is grown in our Dong Thap sourcing area, where Thalvora partners with around 1,400 households farming 1,800 hectares. Growers receive guidance on vine density, pruning and fertilising to VietGAP standards, and some 650 hectares are GlobalG.A.P. certified. Fruit is collected once the skin turns deep purple and it drops or comes away easily from the vine, ensuring full ripeness and aroma.
- Buying stations in six communes weigh and grade fruit on the day it arrives.
- Every sack carries the grower's QR code before it is loaded onto chilled trucks.
- The journey from buying station to Binh Duong takes four to five hours at 10–12 °C.
Production
Fruit enters the line within 24 hours of picking to hold on to the volatile aromas that give passion fruit its character.
- Washing and sorting: high-pressure spray washing, with cracked or mouldy fruit removed on the belt.
- Pulp extraction: machines halve the fruit and scoop out the pulp; the shells are composted and returned to the growing area.
- Seed removal and filtering: centrifuging separates the seeds, and a 0.5 mm screen keeps some of the natural pulp.
- Flash pasteurisation: 85 °C for 30 seconds, then immediate cooling to 4 °C to protect flavour.
- Cold filling: into sterilised PET bottles in an ISO 7 clean room.
The juice is 100% passion fruit, with no added sugar, water or flavourings. Its natural tartness is pronounced, so the label includes dilution guidance.
Food safety
The Binh Duong plant is certified to FSSC 22000. Every batch is tested for Brix, acidity, colour and microbiology, and retained bottles are kept for the full shelf life. Pasteurisation temperature logs are recorded automatically and archived for at least two years.
Packaging and shelf life
The juice comes in a 330 ml grab-and-go bottle and a 1 litre family bottle. It must be kept chilled at 0–6 °C and has a shelf life of 45 days from production. Once opened, use within three days, and shake well before pouring as the natural pulp settles.
Serving ideas
Mix one part juice with three to four parts still or sparkling water, then add ice and a little honey to taste. Undiluted, it works as a base for smoothies, salad dressings and glazes for grilled prawns or fish, or for homemade jellies and sorbets.
Traceability
The QR code on the label links to the buying station, pressing date, pasteurisation batch and lot test results. Thalvora publishes weekly passion fruit purchase prices at each station so growers can plan their harvests.
