Bac Ninh distribution centre marks its first year: delivery to northern Vietnam now within 24 hours

In October 2026, Thalvora Foods' Bac Ninh distribution centre completed its first full year of operations. It is the company's sixth facility and its first in the Red River Delta, built to bring products from our southern factories and growing regions to consumers in the north faster, fresher and at a more sensible cost.

The first year in numbers

The centre has 32,000 m² of floor space, including chilled storage at 2–6°C for fresh vegetables, ambient storage for dried fruit, nuts and seasonings, and a dedicated beverage marshalling area. In its first 12 months, the centre:

  • Received and dispatched more than 41,000 tonnes of goods, equivalent to around 9,600 truckloads;
  • Directly served 38,000 outlets across 25 northern provinces and cities, from large supermarket chains to convenience stores and restaurants;
  • Cut average delivery lead time from 72 hours to 24 hours for central Hanoi and neighbouring provinces;
  • Reduced shrinkage by 18% for baby vegetables and hydroponic lettuce thanks to an unbroken cold chain.

A cold chain from Duc Trong to the north

Thalvora Farm vegetables are harvested at dawn in Duc Trong and Cau Dat, trimmed, rapidly cooled and loaded onto refrigerated trucks the same day. The entire journey of almost 1,500 km is temperature-monitored, and every crate carries a QR code linked to its harvest lot, so warehouse staff can check origin and shelf life in seconds.

In Bac Ninh, goods are sorted by delivery route and dispatched on a first-expiry, first-out basis. The warehouse management system shares live stock levels with the sales team, so outlets can order before 4 pm and receive their delivery the following morning.

The team on the ground

The centre employs 210 people, most of them hired locally and trained in cold-store operations, food safety and occupational safety. The centre recorded no lost-time safety incidents during its first year.

What our outlets tell us

A survey of 1,200 outlets conducted in September 2026 found that 87% rated on-time delivery as better than before the centre opened. Convenience stores can now order smaller quantities more often, which reduces out-of-date stock on the shelf. For HORECA customers, baby vegetables and hydroponic lettuce arrive before 7 am, in time for restaurant kitchens to prepare for the lunch service.

Bac Ninh is more than a warehouse. It is our promise that a bunch of greens picked in Da Lat in the morning can reach a family kitchen in Hanoi the next morning, still as fresh as the day it was harvested. — Mr Le Minh Tri, Chief Executive Officer, Thalvora Foods

What comes next

In 2027, Thalvora plans to install a 1.2 MWp rooftop solar system at the centre, add a further 4,000 m² of chilled storage and trial electric trucks on urban delivery routes. The company will also add convenience products such as instant brown rice porridge and pre-cut soup vegetable kits to the range distributed directly from Bac Ninh.
